 Sacred Buddhist Dance of Nepal:
Charya Nritya Workshops with LiAnne Takeuchi Hunt
These introductory workshops will teach short dances known as slokas of the Vajracharya Buddhist tradition of Nepal.
The dances are moving meditations and deity prayers of Vajrayana Buddhism.
These dances have been performed in ceremony and used as a healing art of transformation for over 1000 years in Nepal and are practiced by both men and women.
Classes include meditation, warm up exercises, Sanskrit mantras and prayers, learning the mudras (sacred gestures) and postures of deities, and dance as movement meditation and deity yoga.

LiAnne Takeuchi Hunt recently moved to Boise from Hawaii where she was born and raised.
She is a student of Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya, the premier dancer and main lineage holder of this tradition.
She is teaching at the request of Prajwal who has asked that this tradition be fostered in the West.
LiAnne is a Vajrayana Buddhist practitioner and has studied and performed sacred dance since 1988.
She has taught and performed in Museums and Art Centers, directed her own company, and has a broad background of sacred movement and dance that include Balinese classical, Javanese classical, classical Indian Kuchipudi, Korean: folk, classical and shaman, Filipino: folk, classical and Muslim trance, Randai: Sumatran theater and martial art, Tai Chi Chuan: Wu style, including sword form, Chi Kung, Hula: Kahiko (ancient) and Auana (contemporary), and Butoh: Japanese avant guard performance art.
